Qatar Airways enters the metaverse with the world’s first virtual cabin crew

qatarairways entered the metaverse with the launch of Versea virtual reality (VR) experience for visitors to the airline’s website.

It features the world’s first known “MetaHuman” cabin crew, Sama, to guide website visitors through the virtual tour.

Sama’s name comes from Arabic and translates to “sky”. She’s a high-fidelity digital human brought to life through Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, a real-time 3D creation tool used by major game makers, Hollywood production and special effects studios.

Qverse users have Sama as a guide. She takes them on the virtual tour and navigates the Premium check-in area of ​​Hamad International Airport (HIA) and inside the cabin of the airline’s plane.

On board, Sama discusses with software users the amenities, unique features and seat selections of Qatar Airways’ different travel classes, from Business Class to Economy Class.

Sama guides Qverse users to explore cabins including Business Class – Qsuite and Economy Class cabin.
